Adaptive Cruise Control Comes to the 2020 Silverado
The Chevy Silverado is an iconic truck that offers you great looks, a powerful performance, and some great features and technology. For 2020, the Silverado is getting some updates and additions including the Adaptive Cruise Control feature. Learn more below.
Active safety features are becoming more common for new vehicles as we are on our way toward semi-autonomous vehicles. Adaptive Cruise Control is one of these extra safety technologies that can help you drive safer. For the Silverado, this feature will have a camera mounted behind the rearview mirror that scans the road. This camera will judge whether you are maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead of you. If you are not, the camera can bring you all the way to a full stop to help you safely navigate the highway. For 2020, this Adaptive Cruise Control feature will be optional on the LT, LTZ, and High Country trim levels.
What else is new for the 2020 Chevy Silverado? From a performance standpoint, there are a few changes that Chevy has made. The 6.2-liter V8 engine was only available on higher trim levels like the LTZ and the High Country in 2019, but for 2020, this engine will also be an available option on trim levels like the Custom Trail Boss, LT Trail Boss, and RST trims.
Another change is the addition of a 10-speed automatic transmission to pair with the 5.3-liter V8 engine. This 10-speed transmission will actually come standard on the LT Trail Boss trim, but it is available for upgrade with other trim levels. Also, when it comes to towing, the 2020 Silverado RST will be up to a class-leading towing of 13,400 pounds when properly equipped.
