Chevy Silverado HD Leads Segment in Dependability
Showing off its excellence in reliability, the 2021 Chevy Silverado HD placed first in the Large Heavy Duty Pickup segment in the 2021 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study. The Silverado HD beat out close competitors like the GMC Sierra HD, despite similarity in the two trucks platform, powertrain options, and several other components. J.D. Power’s Dependability Study makes it clear that the Silverado HD is the most dependable pickup on the market.
Determining Dependability
In order to determine dependability, the J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study ranks automakers and their corresponding vehicles based on their overall reliability. The study assesses this by surveying original owners of three-year-old vehicles to record the various problems they’ve experienced with their car.
With this information, J.D. Power ranks makes and models based on the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles on the road. Then they assign them a corresponding “PP100” score. More specifically, the study surveys respondents about 177 specific vehicle problems across various categories like entertainment, powertrain, and driving experience.
Silverado HD Tops the Pickup Segment
The 2021 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study found that the Chevy Silverado HD leads the Large Heavy Duty Pickup segment as the most dependable vehicle. The second-ranking vehicle, the Ram HD, was miles behind the Silverado in terms of dependability; the Silverado was the only vehicle in the entire segment to perform at or above the average in the study.
Additionally, the Chevrolet brand performed well overall in the study. It achieved a “PP100” score of 115, which is well above the industry average of 121. For comparison, one of Chevrolet’s biggest competitors, GMS, received a poor 143.
What Makes the Silverado Special
If you look into the Silverado HD’s features, it’s easy to see why it stood out. With two heavy-duty powertrain options, innovative towing technologies, and a large Durabed, Silverado HD pulls up ready to work. And whatever the job, there are five unique trim levels ready to match your needs.
The 2021 Chevy Silverado colors include Northsky Blue Metallic, Cherry Red Tintcoat, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, Red Hot, Silver Ice Metallic, Summit White, Black, Mosaic Black Metallic, and Oxford Brown Metallic.
Meanwhile, the 2021 Chevy Silverado interior features a head-up display with an available multi-color 15-inch diagonal screen. It projects speed, navigation, and available active safety alerts onto your windshield so you can keep your eyes on the road.
