Recent Study Finds Chevy Some of the Industry’s Longest Lasting Vehicles
When it comes to the value of a vehicle, what can be more basic than outright longevity? A truly durable vehicle presents an easy advantage to buyers in simply going the distance that other vehicles can’t. But, like the lingering mysteries of what it is exactly that creates the perfect recipe for human longevity, the things that go into giving a vehicle true staying power through the years can be a bit tough to pin down. While it’s clear in both cases that certain things are beneficial without a doubt, such as regular maintenance and considerate daily habits, it’s also much easier to get some solid results on which cars are likely to outlive others.
Now, some very interesting results are shedding some light on what we’ve known to be true for a long time – the fact that Chevrolet can be counted on to produce some of the most consistently longest lasting vehicles available. Recently, automotive industry hub iSeeCars.com partnered with Forbes magazine to undertake a massive survey of 12 million used vehicles sold in 2015, models from 1981 and beyond, to determine how many had been successfully sold at or beyond the 200,000 mile mark. In the end, the findings show that Chevy consistently makes the cut, with high-scoring entries in a wide variety of segments. With plenty of history to show that it’s no change of pace for Chevrolet, we don’t think it comes as any surprise.
In a comparison of trucks successfully sold at or beyond the 200,000 mile mark, the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD, a proven favorite lately, fell just barely short of the top spot with an impressive 5.7 percent of its model’s total used sales. The long-running Chevrolet Tahoe found no problem stacking up to the top entries in the SUV category, either, with 3.4 percent of the model’s total used sales coming in over the high mileage mark. With this wealth of solid new evidence available to demonstrate the well-known quality and long-lasting durability of Chevy vehicles, we’re more than sure that the best of the Chevrolet legacy is here to stay for another reliable generation of cars and trucks.
Also joining these top selections by placing in their respective segment’s top ten were the Chevrolet Sierra 2500, which goes to show that Chevy’s highly regarded work in heavy duty pickups isn’t likely to waiver soon, as well as the Chevy Suburban, Yukon, and Yukon XL, which fill out the list of proven reliable SUVs.
