Chevy Introduces the Tahoe RST, its First Street-Performance SUV
The 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe is an absolute beast of a vehicle. The full-size SUV has the competition shaking in their boots thanks to its insane towing capacity (it can haul up to 8,400 pounds) and its exceptional cabin and cargo space (it can fit up to eight passengers plus all of their potential cargo). But Chevy isn’t known for resting on its laurels.
That’s why the automaker is pushing the boundaries of the high-performance SUV market by introducing the all-new, super powerful Chevy Tahoe Rally Sport Truck (RST) Special Edition.
The special edition vehicle comes with an even more powerful engine, a new transmission, new styling details and a whole range of insane performance enhancements that transform the Tahoe from everyday workhorse into a groundbreaking monster hot rod.
“Chevrolet has continually invested in Tahoe and Suburban, developing models with varying combinations of capability, technology and performance to meet the needs of different customers,” Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet’s Truck Marketing director, said in a recent statement. “The RST is designed for customers who want a street performance look without sacrificing capability or refinement, along with the option of increased performance as well.”
Currently, the RST is only available for the Tahoe LT and Premier trims. Since those are the top two trims in the Tahoe lineup, you’re guaranteed to enjoy the best of what the vehicle has to offer: a fully-loaded SUV with an expertly-designed interior and all of the amenities you could ever imagine. If you’ve been browsing Tinley Park Chevy dealers to find the crème de la crème of Chevy vehicles–stop now, because the 2018 Chevy Tahoe RST is what you’ve been waiting for.
The RST’s exterior is designed to impress. It immediately grabs the attention of everyone on the road thanks to its body-grille surround and door handles, gloss-black grille and mirror caps, black roof rails, and shiny new badging. If you want your RST to really shine, you can add on upgrades such as: A Borla performance exhaust system that offers a 28 percent boost in exhaust flow, an available Brembo brake package, or an exclusive Performance Package which includes Magnetic Ride Control with performance calibration, a 6.2L V-8 engine and a new 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission.
Magnetic Ride Control is an active suspension with technology that allows it to “read” the road and trigger damping changes in as few as 5 milliseconds to deliver mind-blowing control and a smoother-than-silk ride.
“When you want to hustle, it is incredibly fast, with significantly higher levels of acceleration, braking and road-holding grip,” Eric Stanczak, chief engineer for Chevrolet full-size trucks, explained to reporters. “When you want to relax, it is very refined, with exceptional ride comfort and interior quietness.”
The 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe RST is packed full of so many incredible components, we don’t have space to list them all here. Visit a Chevy dealer near you for more information or visit your favorite local Chevy dealer, Apple Chevrolet, for a chat with one of our knowledgeable associates.
