Check Out the Amazing Recycling Process That Goes Into Every Chevy Equinox
With the landscape of industry changing rapidly to meet the needs of a transforming world, General Motors continues to pride itself on taking strides to embrace new standards. As renewable energy and waste reduction become increasingly important aspects of responsible industry, for example, GM continues to do its best to incorporate an ever-increasing amount of recycled and renewably-sourced materials into its designs and production methods. In light of some recent recognition for the company from a number of organizations who seek to encourage and highlight exceptional efforts toward developing sustainable development practices, we’ve got a little bit more information for you about exactly how GM stands out in that department.
Speaking to press recently of GM’s dedication to making the most of today’s new sustainable directives, which are quickly becoming more necessity than specialty, the company’s Global Manager of Waste Reduction John Bradburn offered succinctly that such efforts are “about rethinking the process and finding more sustainable ways to manufacture products.” Realizing that the health and welfare of the communities in which they operate is always an important ingredient for their own security, companies like GM seem to only be expanding their consideration of the kind of business practices that make for truly longterm staying power.
And with that thinking comes a desire to step things up in truly innovative ways, an outlook demonstrated by Mr. Bradburn when he points out that “recycling is good, but viewing waste as a valuable resource that can be plugged into your operations or products is even better.” Now, GM has extended its efforts into a company-wide project called “Do Your Part,” which aims to inspire workers at GM facilities across the globe to become a direct part of plans to increase the use of recycled material in the company’s manufacturing process. Specifically, the project aims to turn waste bottles from GM facilities into a new, recycled noise-reduction insulation used for the Chevy Equinox. By collecting plastic bottles and other similar materials used by workers, the company is able to turn a large amount of what would otherwise be waste into useful resources.
The Equinox crossover isn’t the only Chevy vehicle that benefits from this kind of effort, either, as a handful of Chevy’s signature trucks feature engine parts sourced and recycled from manufacturing waste, as well as with a number of other vehicles that feature filters sourced from recycled test tires. All in all, we here at Apple Chevy are always happy to highlight the efforts at GM, where it’s always becoming more clear that it truly pays to be conscious and responsible.
