2019 Chevy Equinox Gets New Colors, New Tech, and More
The third generation Chevrolet Equinox, launched for the 2018 model year, is the right product at the right time. With impressive sales in 2018, including a record setting March, the 2018 model can’t be seen as anything but a massive success. For the 2019 model year, Chevy is updating the compact crossover with a long list of exciting upgrades.
On the outside, the 2019 Chevy Equinox sports two new colors – Pacific Blue Metallic and Kinetic Blue Metallic. Both colors are additions to the Equinox index that is made up of 14 colors. The 2019 model also displays a new Lights and Bright Package, that is offered on the 1LT equipment groups. The equipment also includes 19” Bright machined wheels with Sparkle Silver pockets, 19” all-season blackwall tires, LED headlamps and LED tail lamps, chrome grill surround and molded assist steps.
The interior updates of the 2019 Equinox are comparable in number to the exterior. Inside, on 1LT and 2LT FWD models, the Equinox navigates away from the leather-wrapped shift lever and replaces it with a urethane-wrapped lever instead. To make up for removing overhead sunglass storage is the addition of multi-color driver instrumentation on LT models, replacing the boring, monochromatic unit on the 2018 model. Several new packages also arrive in the 2019 model, including the LPO-level Interior Enhancement Package. This package features premium carpeted floor mats and embroidered front row headrests.
With regards to technology, the 2019 Equinox received the High-Def, HD treatment for surround vision and the rear vision camera. All variations of the Equinox upgraded from the Chevrolet MyLink to the Chevrolet Infotainment System. In addition to the infotainment system upgrade, the Equinox also increased the availability of USB ports.
Regarding safety, the new 2019 model gains two new active safety features: adaptive full-speed cruise control, with stop-and-go, and front pedestrian braking. Both are included and specifically available with the Driver Confidence II package on Premier models.
The 2019 Equinox also sees various LPO-level changes. LPO items are produced by GM but installed by the dealer. Some changes are as follows: chrome package is no longer available on the FWD premier models, LPO-level Cargo Package no longer includes integrated cargo liner, which remains part of Floor Liner Package and LPO-level all-weather floor liners is no longer available as a free flow option.
