GM Looks to Turn More Than A Few Heads at the Upcoming Chicago Auto Show
Just as the 2016 North American Auto Show in Detroit has closed its doors for another year after plenty of exciting happenings, it’s time to gear up again for another record-setting round of the annual Chicago Auto Show! Still the biggest of its kind in North America after 108 years of putting the spotlight on the best and brightest in the auto world, the show promises to keep heart rates up following the excellent kick-off of the 2016 auto show season. From Saturday, February 13th to Sunday, February 21st at the McCormick Place convention center in Chicago, which also appropriately stands as the largest convention center in North America, the public will have unprecedented access to everything that’s sure to be on the minds of both auto fans and industry players for the better part of the year.
This year, Chevrolet is proud to join a full roster of more than thirty brands and makers for an event that’s sure to help set the tone for an interesting year in the auto industry. GM definitely seems to be making the most of the opportunity in a number of ways, with plans to show not only a wide selection of 2016 production vehicles, but to officially debut a number of special entries that are already gathering more attention than most. With a wide array of media coverage, online updates, and even a customized mobile app just for the show, there’s no excuse for not keeping up with all of the fascinating news to come next month.
First on our minds due to so much anticipation in the media recently, the show will be playing host to the official commercial debut of the new, sixth-generation 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, an update on the signature Chevy model that brings some very muscular new curves and a host of impressive modern features into the Camaro fold. Previewed earlier last year, the new design has already seen its share of extremely positive reception in the auto media, garnering Motor Trend’s anticipatory 2016 Car of the Year award in November, and the Chicago Auto Show will finally be the first good chance for consumers to look under the hood. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Camaro’s original debut in 1966, so the company is sure to be going all out to welcome this already highly-anticipated and well-received entry to their 2016 lineup.
Also of note will be the debut of the upcoming 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV, an evolved iteration of the company’s flagship electric model. The new Bolt makes its first showing in Chicago as an all-electric EV, the first widely available from Chevy and slated for production later in the year. With this new push toward full electric capability, the Bolt continues to push the boundaries of combining value and performance in electric transportation for today’s resource-conscious drivers, and is sure to draw plenty of worthy attention in Chicago. Be sure to keep an eye out on the revelations to come in Chicago next month, and remember that we’ll be sitting by right here at Apple Chevrolet to help turn the dreams that are born in Chicago into a reality, likely for a lot less than you think!
