Check Out Chevy’s Newest Little Crossover
The 2021 Trailblazer is Chevrolet’s newest subcompact crossover. Smaller than previous generations, the 2021 model is the median between the subcompact Trax and the compact Equinox but with more distinctive style.
Features
With a cavernous seat room and cargo area, the Trailblazer prioritizes space, technology, and design. It has two unique trim levels: the outdoors-y Trailblazer Activ and the sporty Trailblazer RS. Resembling other Chevy crossovers, it’s interior design has a premium feel, including Trailblazer interior lights. The RS has a flat-bottom leather steering wheel and red interior accent, while the Activ features intricate cloth patterns and brown dash trim. It’s Infotainment System includes a standard 7-inch touchscreen (with an optional 8-inch screen) and wirelessly links to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for listening to music, accessing contacts, and using navigation apps. A handy rearview camera mirror is also available as an optional add-on.
With an impressive 39.4 inches of rear legroom, the Chevy crossover gives passengers space and comfort. Behind the second row of seating, there is 25.3 cubic feet of cargo space, and the vehicle has the ability to fold the seats down, opening up 54.4 cubic feet of total cargo space.
Engines
The 2021 Trailblazer comes with two options of three-cylinder turbocharged engines. First, the base engine is 1.2-L and produces 137 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque. With this option, you’ll get an EPA-rated fuel economy of 28 mpg city and 31 mpg highway with front-wheel drive and a continuously variable transmission. The upgraded option is 1.3-L and produces 155 horsepower and 174 lb.-ft. of torque. While front-wheel drive and CVT is standard, you can choose all-wheel drive and a nine-speed traditional automatic system with this option, and it will provide you a fuel economy 26 mpg city and 30 mpg highway.
Safety
In terms of safety features and crash rating, the 2021 Trailblazer comes standard with Chevy Safety Assist, which includes Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Lane-Keep Assist, a Following Distance Indicator, Automatic High-Beams, and a Rear Seat Reminder. Add-on safety options include Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind-Spot and Rear Cross-Traffic Warning, and Rear Park Assist. Additionally, the 2021 Trailblazer achieved a four-star crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Trims
The base model of the 2021 Trailblazer is the L trim, and it includes 16-inch steel wheels, halogen headlights and taillights, a manual liftgate, manual cloth seats, a 7-inch Infotainment System, and a four-speaker audio system. Next, the LS trim is the first level to have all-wheel drive and the upgraded engine, as well as 17-inch aluminum wheels, carpeted floor mats, a six-speaker audio system, and flat-folding passenger seat for even more cargo space.
The premium trim levels, the Active and the RS, offer a more attractive appearance and premier features. The Activ includes all-wheel drive, an off-road appearance package, leather-wrapped interior, and interior extras like heated power seats and the 8-inch Infotainment touchscreen. Similarly, the RS has all-wheel drive and swaps the off-road features for sporty parts.
