Self-driving Chevy Bolt May Be Coming Soon
It certainly seems that the future of automotive technology continues to move on us more quickly than ever, and it isn’t just the common addition of more and smarter entertainment and safety features in our vehicles. In terms of vehicles themselves, rather, and in terms of the dynamics of driving altogether, it’s undeniable that some big changes in the industry are right around the corner. Now, we’ve got some early details on GM’s own efforts to bring an unprecedented future to the road as soon as possible, and despite its impending arrival, it probably still sounds like something straight out of science fiction to most people.
With more of the automotive industry becoming dedicated to the tenets of efficiency and environmentalism all the time, for example, it only makes sense to observe that some major shifts in cultural attitudes and trends are continuing to propagate waves of great transformation throughout the world of vehicle technology. In looking to address the changing demands of transportation and the effects that our daily driving routines have on our lives, many automakers have been investing huge amounts of time, money, and effort into bringing a whole new game to life over the last decade-plus. With self-driving technology now reaching a point of serious viability thanks to so much industry-wide research and development, the time is finally upon us for cars to become smart enough to take the wheel all on their own.
Never ones to miss out on being part of such an opportunity to usher in a whole new era of automotive technology, GM has been spotted alongside a number of other makers as they test new, enhanced versions of some of their young vehicles, newly equipped with leading-edge self-driving technology. Partnering with recently-acquired tech company Cruise Automation, GM has been taking a fleet of sensor-equipped Chevy Bolts to task on the roads of San Francisco, presumably to work out some of the final details of what company officials have categorized in recent press engagements as a hugely important part of GM’s plans for the near future.
