Chevy’s Towing Safety Package
The Iconic Chevy Silverado Brings Towing Into a New Era of Convenience
The demands for innovative accommodations in modern cars and trucks seems to only keep pushing makers to new heights of practical creativity and recently Chevy has debuted another impressive piece of technology to help make driving a bit more accommodating. For anyone who’s ever been responsible for towing a trailer knows it’s a task that requires a lot of extra attention to detail on the part of the driver in maintaining safety for ourselves, our passengers, and other traffic alike. In short, it’s often a tense situation. Now, Chevrolet has partnered with the Echomaster vehicle safety systems company to produce a truly cutting-edge towing safety package that’s sure to help anyone out there, whether they’re green or experienced towers, to get an even better handle on one of everyday driving’s toughest tasks.
Officially dubbed a ‘Blind-Spot-Assist towing package system,’ Chevy’s new camera accessories are planned to be made available to Silverado HD models from the 2014-2016 model years, and also to any Silverado 1500s that have also been fitted with optional trailer-towing side mirrors. The package joins a lineup of reliable towing accessories that have been joining the Chevy lineup lately, starting with last year’s top-notch gooseneck/fifth-wheel trailering prep package and completion kit options, which brought Chevy up to the top of its game in off-the-lot towing capability. This year, the gooseneck/fifth-wheel setup arrives in a newly configured, fully-integrated form to make things even easier for dedicated towers.
Getting down to details, the new package finds cameras mounted on side mirrors as well as on the top-rear edge of the trailer itself to offer drivers a clear rear-view when reversing with the trailer attached. A fourth camera is also optional, giving drivers the choice of an in-trailer view for the sake of monitoring livestock or other sensitive cargo. All in all, it seems like a worthwhile step toward making towing a safer, easier and more reliable venture on the whole. We’ll happily say goodbye to some of that old-fashioned towing tension!
Other recent additions to the classic Silverado include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support with built-in charger, a remote-locking tailgate, and the addition of Digital Steering Assist to all but the WT and regular cab 2016 Silverados. With so much energy clearly going into making the already-iconic Chevy Silverado the absolute best that it can be, we think there’s no better time to consider it a serious option for your next truck. With a well-established history of innovation and excellence in trucks, Chevy has more than just gimmicks to offer – it’s got a history of achievement and service that makes it clear that the future holds no less than the best.
