U.S. Auto Sales Up in February
According to Automotive News, U.S. auto sales jumped 27% in February led by GM, up 46%, well above analyst’s predictions.
“The consumer is back in the showrooms…”, said Brian Johnson, a Barclays Capital analyst. Pent-up consumer demand, easing credit, and aggressive marketing have fueled the increase.
Don Johnson, GM’s head of sales operations, said “Agressive advertising and targeted conusmer marketing has been the key to our success in the first two months of this year.”
With indications that the industry recovery is accelerating, carmakers are looking forward to a good Spring selling season.
