Famous Recruiting Coordinator, Bob Chmiel, Stops by Apple Chevrolet
Legendary recruiter, Bob Chmiel, stopped by Apple Chevrolet the other week to speak to our employees about what it means to be a team. Bob is a former recruiting coordinator at some of the top ranked football universities in the Midwest including Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Michigan, and Norte Dame. He worked alongside top coaches Lou Holtz, Bo Schembechler and Lee Corso and has continued sharing his motivational words throughout organizations all over the country.
Class, Class, Class
As mentioned previously, Bob spoke to our team at Apple Chevy about what it means and what it takes to be a team. First, Bob honored our team by describing us with one word. “Class, class, class,” he said. He couldn’t believe how welcomed we made him feel right when he stepped into our doors. Bob has never done business with us so he never imagined he would be greeted the way he was. He said, “It meant a lot to me.” We were happy we made him feel that way as we hope everyone who walks into our doors feels like part of our family right away.
The Team, The Team, The Team
As Bob continued motivating our employees, he began to dive into what it means to be a team. Bob quoted Bo Schembechler’s speech and said, “No man or lady is more important than the team. No coach is more important than the team. The team, the team, the team. And if we think that way, always, everything that you do, and take into consideration, how does what I do affect the team. How does what you do affect the team? The quality of your work affects the team.”
Bob then mentions that “There’s no perfect job. You can have bad days and you can have good days.” But he goes on to say that when each team member leaves to go home at the end of each day, they need to think about what they can do better the next day. This will help the team continue to grow and succeed day after day.
Loyalty
Lastly, Coach Bob Chmiel discussed loyalty. He said, ““Loyalty to me is one of the most important attributes that I can see in a division. You can’t have a team without loyalty.” We are very thankful to have such loyal employees here at Apple Chevrolet. A lot of our team members have been with us for over 10 years, and we could not be more thankful for their commitment to our Chevy Tinley Park dealership.
