New plans for “Mongo Day” Tailgate Party at Apple Chevrolet
Steve “Mongo” McMichael is sick and in the hospital, and will not be able to attend our Tailgate Party today (Oct 2nd). But party we will, for standing in for Mongo will be former Chicago Bears Defensive Captain, sports commentator, host of the Doug Buffone on FOX Sports Net as well as one of the top radio shows for seventeen years on The Score, Doug Buffone!
Doug Buffone was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the 1966 draft after attending the University of Louisville. Doug played 14 seasons as a Chicago Bear, from 1966 through 1980, making him the last Bears player to play under head coach George Halas. During the ’72-’79 seasons Doug was the Defensive Captain for the Bears.
Doug played 186 games as a Bear. That’s the third most game played among Bears
Doug had a career-high 158 tackles in 1972
Doug had 11 solo tackles vs. New Orleans (10/6/74)
Doug holds the Bears record for most career interceptions (24)
Doug holds the Bears record for most sacks in a season (18 in 1968)
Doug was voted into the Louisville Hall of Fame with Johnny
Unitas in 1979
So best wishes to Mongo we hope will get well soon. Meanwhile, the party’s on, with hamburgers, hot dogs, goodies and treats. There will be games and prizes for the kids, a raffle with great great prizes, a live DJ and lots of trucks to look at (and test drive if you wish) and the Brand Spankin New 2011 Chevy Cruze! Come on down and meet Doug Bufone (between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM) and have some fun!
