The New All-Electric Blazer Police Pursuit Vehicle
Reimagine what an SUV can be with the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV. The all-electric model will also be available to law enforcement organizations in the form of a sleek police pursuit vehicle (PPV). Patrol-ready, the PPV is the complete package with style, performance, and technology. Available in multiple trims, colors, and battery ranges, this daring new all-electric midsize SUV is built from the ground up around the game changing Ultium battery platform. Ultium offers flexibility in charging speeds, range, and performance—giving the sporty Blazer EV the sheer power and confidence needed to go the distance.
The Patrol-Ready Blazer EV
The 2024 Blazer EV PPV is Chevy’s first all-electric Blazer police vehicle designed to be pursuit-rated and offers exceptional performance. As more states and municipalities implement carbon reduction plans and targets, the all-new Blazer EV PPV can help achieve them with uncompromising performance and capability for officers. The vehicle will produce 557 horsepower and available features include front wheel drive, hands free driving, rear wheel drive, Super Cruise, and exceptional Ultium battery charge capabilities (including DC Fast charging). On top of all that, using an electric patrol vehicle will have great benefits for the environment.
Chevrolet and Law Enforcement
On the PPV model, Ed Peper, U.S. Vice President of GM Fleet, said, “Chevy’s commitment to meeting the needs of law enforcement is rooted in decades of cooperation with police agencies across North America. This purpose-built electrified Blazer EV PPV will have excellent pursuit performance, the reliability of a Chevrolet and fast-charging necessary to be a high-performance patrol vehicle.”
The Benefits of an Electric Patrol Vehicle
Due to the nature of police work, many patrol cars spend a lot of their time idling, creating emissions from running a gasoline engine to support the electrical loads of a law enforcement vehicle. Utilizing the largest possible Ultium battery packs available for the Chevy Blazer PPV, Chevrolet is supporting the electrical needs of a pursuit vehicle needed for law enforcement.
Fitting to be an EV, the Blazer PPV will have a low center of gravity, thanks to the roughly 1,200-pound (544 kg) battery pack mounted low in the chassis. It will also utilize Brembo brakes based on the high-performance Blazer EV SS, which are designed to offer superior stopping power. Together these two features increase speed and agility.
