Apple Chevy Makes a Difference with Blood Drive
On September 11th from 10am-4pm, Apple Chevy is hosting a blood drive through the American Red Cross. All the spots for this blood drive have been filled up, and everyone here at Tinley Chevy supports those donating! Below, is a little more information about Whole Blood donations.
What is “Whole Blood?”
Whole blood is the most common type of donation. The donation will be comprised of three components: red blood cells, platelets, and plasma all in a single sitting.
Why It’s Important to Donate
Whole blood donations help save the lives of children and adults fighting to survive cancer, blood disorders, traumatic injuries, and more. The donation is quick, but you should plan on being with us for about an hour. Note that the physical blood donation only takes roughly 15 minutes. Pull up a few YouTube videos all you’ll be done before you know it snacking on some cookies.
You can also donate blood as often as every 56 days. If you missed the chance to sign up for our blood drive, you can always make an appointment with American Red Cross today.
Who Can Donate
You must be over the age of 17, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health.
How Much Blood Do I Give?
The average adult has about 10-12 pints of blood in their body. 1 pint is given during the donation. One donation can save up to 3 lives.
