Luckily, the stars have aligned just so for Chevy and fans of one of its recent and very well-received, conceptual designs, and we’ve got the details on what you can expect as an anticipated new arrival makes its way into the official Chevy lineup.
At the convening of last year’s Special Equipment Market Association (SEMA) exhibition in Las Vegas, Chevrolet debuted a sleek, off-road ready take on the classic Silverado pickup, sponsored by and outfitted in the custom style of Georgia-based outdoor and hunting equipment company Realtree. Appropriately dubbed the 2016 Chevy Silverado Realtree Edition, the new entry in the Silverado legacy received such a positive reception at the SEMA show that many find it unsurprising that the company in going ahead with a production model, set to arrive soon.
Packed full with a treasure trove of outdoor styling and hunting enthusiast’s accommodations, the Silverado Realtree Edition features exterior camouflage graphics as well as interior accoutrements like embroidered logos on front headrests. Special edition black Chevrolet bowtie emblems replace standard versions, and performance enhancements only just start with a profile-enhancing set of all-black 20-inch wheels. From there, the Realtree Edition makes a point of adding a handful of the best of Chevy’s off-road upgrades.
To give the Realtree Edition the capable substance to balance its undoubted style, Chevy plans to include its Z71 Silverado off-road package, which brings the vigor of Rancho monotube shocks, a smart Hill Descent Control feature, and underbody shield, and a tough G80 locking differential to keep it reliably coming back to the trail for more. As it stands now, the first round of the Realtree Edition will also come standard in a Silverado 1500 LTZ crew cab configuration, truly ready to offer the biggest and best of everything that the Silverado series has to offer.
First introduced in 1999 as the successor to the long-running, proven Chevrolet C/K series of trucks, the Silverado has gone on to become a lynchpin in Chevy’s truck lineup, offering a library of options and hosting some of the company’s most innovative work in heavy-duty vehicles in the time that it’s been in service.
