Local Cub Scouts Learn Car Safety at Apple Chevrolet
On Sunday, October 27th, local Cub Scout Packs 372, 341, 365, 381, 398 and 400 visited with Apple Chevrolet employees and the Cub Scouts Safe Kids Program staff at the dealership to learn about automotive safety, both in and around the car.
Some of the topics that were covered included:
*OnStar—Apple Chevy staff talked to scouts about the OnStar system and demonstrated how it works
*Safety belt fit test—are you ready to sit in a seat belt without a booster seat?
*Trunk entrapment—don’t ever play in the trunk, and what to do if you ever get trapped inside
*Spot the Tot— the Safe Kids Program showed parents and scouts how it’s impossible for a driver to see kids that are too close behind a car, and how to prevent an accidental backover or frontover
*Never Leave a Child Alone— families were educated about why it’s important to never leave kids unattended in or around cars, especially due to the risk of hyperthermia, or hot car deaths
Apple Chevrolet was proud to sponsor such a worthy event. The program was both fun, educational and rewarding for all. And at the end of the program, each of the scouts received their Automotive Safety Patch!
