Vehicle Safety and Awareness Event
On February 5th, we sponsored a vehicle safety and awareness event at Apple Chevrolet in Tinley Park. The presentation and discussion were given by The Tinley Park Police Department and Crime Strategist Roe Conn who recently joined the Cook County Sheriff Department as a senior project manager on the crime analytics team specializing in carjackings and roadway shootings. During the event, they informed guests on the latest tips on how to stay safe in today’s environment, information on child passenger safety seat installation, and more. A huge thanks to all the guests that came out to the presentation so that we can all do our part to stay safe and informed.
Staying Safe in Today’s Environment
With a recent rise in carjackings, the Tinley Park Police and Roe Conn advised guests to think ahead and to always be aware of your surroundings. Parking in well-lit areas, keeping your doors and windows locked, equipping your vehicle with anti-theft/GPS, and overall trusting your instincts will help in preventing a carjacking. If you are a victim of a carjacking give up the car and leave the scene to avoid verbal and physical confrontations. Call 911 immediately to alert police of the situation. Following these safety tips can ensure that you and your family can stay safe.
