Apple Chevy Joins USO Illinois to Host Summer BBQ Fundraiser for Troops

A very special occasion is approaching for Chicago area auto dealers of all kinds this season, and it definitely stands as one of Apple Chevy’s favorite local events, as well as an excellent opportunity to connect with a very worthwhile cause. To be specific, we’re proud to report that the Chicago Automobile Trade Association, which includes many different dealers and related organizations including Apple Chevy, continues to partner with the United Service Organizations (USO) of Illinois to host an annual summer BBQ event. Featuring a wide variety of donation and volunteer fundraising opportunities, these events go to directly support the many programs provided to American soldiers by the USO.

History of the United Service Organizations

Proving its value time and again since its inception during World War II, the USO has long been dedicated to providing ‘home away from home’ services to both deployed and domestic members of the Armed Forces. Best known for providing much-needed entertainment and relief to deployed soldiers during WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, the USO also helped to cement the memories of many beloved performers of the mid-20^th century, including Mickey Rooney, Lucille Ball, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Gene Kelly, and John Wayne, by organizing and hosting nearly half a million performances during this time. These are only the best known parts of the USO’s history, of course, and their services have provided a wide variety of morale-boosting support to soldiers of all kinds for many decades.

Continuing a Legacy of Thankful Service

The USO’s work continues today, of course, operating in more areas and in more roles than ever before, providing support, leave activities, and fundraising efforts of all kinds for the benefit of an estimated 35 million Armed Service members and families to date. Operating in 27 states and at 160 total sites across the globe, the USO still unquestionably upholds its mission of giving its all to bring some important aspects of home to those who can’t always be there. That’s why it’s our absolute pleasure here at your Tinley Park Chevy dealer  to host a USO Community BBQ on July 15^th, complete with lots of fun activities, free car services, and an engaging community atmosphere geared toward raising awareness and donations for our hardworking troops!

It’s sure to be a good opportunity to get out and join your neighbors and local business owners for a community gathering in the best of spirits, and all for the benefit of the service members and military families served by the great USO. While so many dedicated members of the Armed Forces do the work that others can’t, it’s only reasonable that we do what we can for them in return, and the USO BBQ on July 15^th stands as a great opportunity to team up to do just that.
