Chevrolet Support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Chevrolet is ramping up its support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month for the fifth-consecutive year. Through the company’s partnership with the American Cancer Society, their contributions have totaled $4,462,326, and hundreds of local walks across the country have increased support and awareness for the cause.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women in the United States, other than skin cancer. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer. The chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is about one in eight.
Last year, Chevrolet raised $1.2 million for the American Cancer Society through Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks. Chevrolet dealers across the country will be supporting the campaign through event sponsorships, team participation, customer engagement, and more. Dealers will also host their own walks in local neighborhoods.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks are the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting nearly 300 communities with a shared determination to finish the fight against breast cancer. Passionate walk participants raise critical funds that enable the American Cancer Society to fund groundbreaking breast cancer research; provide free, comprehensive information and support to those touched by breast cancer; and help people take steps to reduce their breast cancer risk or find it early when it is most treatable.
Chevrolet social media has also created the #IDriveFor hashtag and will donate $5 for every social media post including the hashtag, up to $500,000. You can also visit their website to directly enter the name of who you drive for.
Additionally, Team Chevrolet Motorsports will make a $350 contribution, up to $50,000, for each caution lap taken by the pink Chevrolet SS pace car during two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.
The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative will use the funds to invest in breast cancer research to help understand, prevent, find, and treat the disease. They will also provide access to free information, answers, and comfort around the clock. Early detection and prevention techniques will help people take steps to reduce their breast cancer risk or find it when it is most treatable.
The American Cancer Society empowers those touched by cancer to fight back by working with legislators to pass laws to help fight cancer and rally communities worldwide to join the fight. Chevrolet is a major company in their corner.
