In Flanders Field – Honoring our Heroes
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields. – John McCrae, 1915
In honor of those who have given the full measure of their devotion to our country, may they rest in peace knowing that they helped defend their loved ones, their posterity and the ideals for which this country stands. We honor you today, as well as those still risking their lives on foreign lands and serving their country in whatever capacity. It is fitting also to honor those who have served and walk among us today as veterans. Thank you and bless you!
