2011 Chevy Cruze Interactive Timeline

What a year! In January 2009, the Chevrolet Cruze debuted at the North American International Auto Show. Since then, the Cruze has amassed more than 100,000 international sales, been introduced in 60 countries and was called the “Car of the Future” by President Obama.
The Cruze challenges preconceived notions about what a compact car can – and should be – in North America. Overall value will be unsurpassed, from standard features not typically found in a compact, to refined styling inside and out, to more interior room than any car in its class.
The Cruze also affirms Chevrolet’s commitment to building fuel-efficient vehicles using new, small-displacement four-cylinder engines. The Ecotec 1.4L I-4 turbo with variable valve timing is expected to deliver segment-leading fuel economy – including up to 40 mpg on the highway with a high-efficiency model.
“Cruze is already a hit across Europe and Asia and now, it’s coming to America to challenge the status quo,” said Jim Campbell, general manager, Chevrolet. “It’s the latest tangible example of how Chevrolet is working to bring new products to market that range from gas-friendly to gas-free.”
