GM extends money-back guarantee

GM’s 60-day money-back guarantee has been working so well that they are extending it to January 4th, 2010. Since it began, GM has sold 149,000 cars with only 4 cars returned. Only 449 buyers actually chose the guarantee in lieu of an additional $500 rebate. Apparently this was expected.
The real purpose of the promotion has been to reassure customers that GM is convinced its vehicles are top quality and can compete favorably with other brands. Although most automotive experts have been saying for quite some time that there is little difference in quality between domestic vehicles and imports, public perception has lagged. Much of GM’s problem has been convincing the public that it now sells world class vehicles of high quality and outstanding fuel economy.
Stating “Let the best car win”, GM placed its vehicles in front of the public for competitive comparison. Great new cars and crossovers like the Chevy Malibu, Equinox, and Traverse have caught up with and surpassed the competition. They are in high demand and GM is struggling to produce enough of them.
