Minor Engine Problem at 456K Miles

On the way from Galesburg, IL to Michigan, Fred and Mary McGunnigal experienced minor engine problems with their 2001 Chevy Cavalier.  They found our dealership, Apple Chevrolet, and stopped to have it taken care of.  When the Service Greeter checked the odometer he was surprised.  “Is that the correct miles?” he asked.  Fred McGunnigal replied in the affirmative.  “It’s been a good little car, original engine, and it doesn’t burn oil.”

While the McGunnigals were waiting, I had a chance to chat with them about their Cavalier. They were extremely nice people and explained that Mr. McGunnigal was now retired but used to travel a lot for sales. He averaged an oil change per month due to the miles he put on the car. He had his tires rotated every 6,000 miles… In short, he maintained his car by the book.

I explained that the Chevy Cobalt followed the Cavalier in our lineup and has since been replaced by the Cruze. Fred looked at his wife and said, “We missed the Cobalt, honey!” We all chuckled and I asked if they would like to see the Cruze. They said no because they are now considering a Chevy Impala which Mrs. McGunnigal has been dreaming about. I showed them to our showroom where they could see one of our Impalas.

After their Cavalier was ready to go again, the McGunnigals had to be on their way to Michigan, but not before I snapped a couple photos. Thank you for your inspiration Mr. & Mrs. McGunnigal. Happy cruisin’ and thank you for your business!
